(Schenectady County, N.Y.) – The Schenectady County Legislature announced registration is open for Run the Runway, a 5K race to be held at the Schenectady County Airport on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. The event will also feature a one-mile fun run for kids. Active military members, retirees, and veterans will receive a discount on registration fees, and the Empire State Aero Sciences Museum (ESAM) will offer free admission to visitors throughout the day.
“Families, walkers, runners, and aviation enthusiasts are invited to experience the Schenectady County Airport in a way few people ever do—right from the runway,” said Schenectady County Legislator Cathy Gatta, Chair of the Tourism, Arts and Special Events Committee. “Run the Runway is a great opportunity to enjoy the airport, explore the Empire State Aerosciences Museum, and make lasting memories with friends and family.”

Time: 10:00 a.m. start for the 5k, approximately 10:45 a.m. start for the 1-mile fun run for kids
Registration is $35 for the 5k, with active military, retirees, and veterans receiving a discount.
Children 12 years and younger may participate in the fun run for FREE.
