The Kansas City Chiefs have activated recently acquired running back Kareem Hunt from their practice squad and plan to play him in Sunday's (September 29) road game against the Los Angeles Chargers, head coach Andy Reid told reporters on Wednesday (September 25) via ESPN.

Hunt, 29, spent his first two seasons with the Chiefs, which included recording a career-best 1,327 rushing yards, which also the league, during his rookie season in 2017. The former Toledo standout was waived by Kansas City in November 2018 after a video surfaced showing him pushing and kicking a woman, which resulted in an eight-game suspension after he signed with the Cleveland Browns the following season.

"It's crazy how some things happened to work out," Hunt said via ESPN. "It was a lot, honestly. It was a lot of emotions. I was very excited, a little nervous and stuff like that, [but] these guys know me. I've just got to go and be myself."

Hunt recorded 4,436 yards and 40 touchdowns on 1,030 rushing attempts, as well as 226 receptions for 1,890 yards and 17 touchdowns in 38 starts and 91 career appearances. The veteran running back was acquired hours after Isiah Pacheco was placed on injured reserve last week.

Pacheco, 25, was reportedly expected to be out four to eight weeks due to a broken fibula he suffered during the Chiefs' Week 2 win against the Cincinnati Bengals, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported on September 16.
