Residents of the Capital Region are set to experience a White Christmas as snow blankets the area. Snowfall began late Monday (December 23) and is expected to continue through Tuesday morning, bringing between one and three inches of snow to most areas. Higher elevations could see up to six inches.

The National Weather Service has issued winter weather advisories for parts of Herkimer and Fulton counties, where snow totals could reach three to four inches. Meteorologist Christina Speciale noted that the snow, combined with existing ground cover, ensures a "guaranteed lock for a white Christmas in Albany," as reported by the Times Union.

While the snow is expected to taper off by midday, roads may remain slippery, impacting travel plans. Temperatures are forecasted to rise into the low to mid-30s by the end of the week, providing some relief from the recent cold snap. News10 ABC reports that Christmas Day will be chilly but manageable, with highs reaching the upper 20s under partly sunny skies.
