Two men from Troy are facing charges following a BB gun incident at the Colonie Inn and Suites in Latham. On Friday (April 18), Colonie Police responded to reports of a verbal altercation in the motel's parking lot on Loudon Road, where a gun was reportedly fired into the air before the suspects fled in a white SUV.
Officers quickly located the SUV on Alternate Route 7 and arrested Trent Bariteau, 38, and Shaliek Townsend, 36. Inside the vehicle, police found two BB guns and a quantity of crack cocaine. According to News10 ABC, Bariteau is charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, with prior conviction, and two counts of menacing in the second degree. Townsend faces charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree, unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, and reckless driving.
Authorities confirmed that no one was injured during the incident, and the shot fired was from one of the BB guns. Both men are being held pending arraignment.
