An Albany woman, Xioma Farez, has been charged in connection with a stabbing incident that occurred early Saturday morning (April 19) in Albany. Police responded to a report of a stabbing at a home on Western Avenue near Cortland Place at approximately 3:45 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found a 28-year-old man with a stab wound to his arm. The victim was treated by emergency medical personnel at the scene and then transported to Albany Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
According to the Albany Police Department, Farez, aged 31, was identified as the suspect and taken into custody at the scene. She faces charges of second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Investigators believe that Farez and the victim knew each other, although the nature of their relationship has not been disclosed.
Farez was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court on Saturday morning. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and no further details have been released at this time. The Albany Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the stabbing.
