A 34-year-old man named Joshua Case is facing multiple charges after making threats against the public and law enforcement in Glenmont. On Tuesday (May 13), Case, who was staying at the Quality Inn and Suites Hotel, made threatening phone calls to a nearby Stewart's Shop and the Bethlehem Police Department. The calls were described as "irrational in nature" by the police.
Due to the severity of the threats, authorities evacuated sections of the hotel as a precaution while attempting to negotiate with Case. After several hours, Case exited his hotel room without incident and was taken into custody around 9:30 a.m. He was charged with making a terroristic threat, a class D felony, and aggravated harassment in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor.
Following his arraignment in the Town of Bethlehem Court by Judge Kirby, Case was released under the supervision of Albany County Probation. He is scheduled to return to court on June 3 at 4 p.m.As reported by WNYT, the incident prompted a large law enforcement response, involving the Bethlehem Police Department, Albany County Sheriff's Office, and the New York State Police.CBS6 Albany and Newport Dispatch also reported on the incident, confirming the details of the charges and the evacuation.
