The New York State Department of Transportation (NYS DOT) has announced a significant road closure starting today (May 19) in Brunswick, Rensselaer County. State Route 351, a major connector between Brunswick and Poestenkill, will be closed for approximately three months to allow for a culvert replacement project.

The closure affects the stretch between White Church Road and Settlers Lane. Motorists are advised to follow designated detour routes. Passenger vehicles should use State Route 355, County Road 19, and State Route 2, while trucks are directed to take State Route 355, State Route 66, and State Route 2.

According to CBS6 Albany, drivers should anticipate longer travel times and are encouraged to plan accordingly. The construction activities are weather-dependent and subject to change based on conditions.

The NYS DOT emphasizes the importance of following the detour signs to ensure safety and minimize disruptions. As reported by NEWS10 ABC, the project aims to improve infrastructure and ensure the safety of the roadways.

Residents and commuters in the area should prepare for extended travel times and adjust their schedules accordingly. The completion of the project is expected to enhance the overall condition of the road and provide a safer route for all travelers.
