An electric vehicle fleet event is happening today (May 21) at the Empire State Plaza in Albany, New York. Organized by the New York State Office of General Services (OGS) and the New York Power Authority (NYPA), the event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will showcase the latest electric vehicle models and charging equipment. The event aims to support Governor Kathy Hochul's goal to transition all state agency light-duty fleet vehicles to zero-emission vehicles by 2035 and medium- and heavy-duty vehicles by 2040.

Attendees will have the opportunity to view a range of electric vehicles, including those from state agency fleets, the Capital Region Transportation Authority, and various auto dealers. According to OGS Commissioner Jeanette Moy, the event demonstrates how state agencies and the EV industry are working together to create a sustainable future.

In addition to vehicle displays, the event will feature a panel discussion on best practices and lessons learned in fleet electrification, focusing on medium- and heavy-duty fleets. A workshop will follow, offering insights into fleet conversion planning and available incentives.

New York State Energy Research and Development Authority President Doreen M. Harris emphasized the importance of events like this in helping New Yorkers understand state efforts to expand EV usage and charging infrastructure. The event is part of a broader initiative by OGS and NYPA to expand EV charging ports across state facilities, supporting the transition to a cleaner transportation system.
