The annual Scotia Memorial Day Parade is set to take place tonight (May 21) in Scotia. The parade will start at 6:15 p.m. on Mohawk Avenue and will be followed by a ceremony at the War Memorial in Collins Park. For safety reasons, vehicle access to Mohawk Avenue will be limited along the parade route.
The Scotia parade is one of several Memorial Day events happening in the Capital Region. According to WNYT, the Town of Rotterdam will hold its parade tomorrow (May 22) at 6:30 p.m., beginning near Mohonasen High School and concluding at Town Hall. Other nearby parades include those in Waterford, Cohoes, and Schoharie, each with their own unique routes and ceremonies.
The Scotia-Glenville parade is a cherished local tradition, honoring the memory of fallen veterans and bringing the community together in remembrance. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to secure good viewing spots and to participate in the post-parade ceremony.
