Trader Joe's is set to expand its presence in New York's Capital Region with a new store in Glenmont. The site plans for the store, located at Glenmont Shopping Plaza on Feura Bush Road, received approval from the Bethlehem Planning Board on Tuesday (May 20). The project, which includes the conversion of over 14,000 square feet of existing retail space into a Trader Joe's, is moving forward but still requires building permits before construction can commence.

Benderson Development, responsible for the project, plans to demolish an over 18,000-square-foot space and build a new 6,000-square-foot retail or restaurant space. The development will also feature a new 49-space parking lot and a drive-up bank ATM. Additionally, plans include modifying the Route 9W southern driveway to restrict left turns and adding a crosswalk and pedestrian signals to the Feura Bush Road middle driveway.

According to NEWS10, Trader Joe’s East Inc. has applied for a liquor license for the Glenmont location. The store is listed as "coming soon" on Trader Joe's website, but an official opening date has not been announced.

This new store will join existing Trader Joe's locations in Clifton Park and Colonie, further solidifying the chain's presence in the region. Construction must begin within one year of site plan approval.
