A tragic accident on Great Sacandaga Lake near Broadalbin resulted in the death of a woman in her early 20s on Monday evening (June 23). The incident occurred around 6:15 p.m. when the personal watercraft she was riding collided with a boat, according to the Fulton County Sheriff's Office. A man, also in his early 20s, was with her on the watercraft and was taken to Albany Medical Center Hospital for treatment. His current condition is unknown.
Sheriff Richard Giardino stated that the crash happened just north of the town boat launch. The sheriff's office is conducting an investigation with assistance from state conservation officers, State Police, and their dive team, as well as the Saratoga County Sheriff's Office. Local firefighters, ambulances, and the Tri-County Swift Water Rescue Team also responded to the scene.
Further details will be released once the victim's family is notified. Sheriff Giardino expressed his condolences, saying, "Our thoughts and our prayers to the family." The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not yet determined the cause of the accident.
