Albany's newly renovated Lincoln Park Pool is set to open on Saturday, July 5. After two years of construction, the facility will welcome residents from 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The pool features a 10-lane lap pool, splash pad, water slides, new restrooms, shade pavilions, and picnic patios. Only Albany residents can access the pool, with a capacity of 500 people, on a first-come, first-served basis. To enter, residents must register with Civic Rec, an online platform by the city's Department of Recreation.

The pool's renovation, which began in April 2024, was necessary due to significant water leakage from the old infrastructure, which lost up to 500,000 gallons daily. The redevelopment included a $45 million sewage treatment operation to reduce raw waste entering the Hudson River during heavy rain. The project received $10 million in state funding. Mayor Kathy Sheehan emphasized the pool's importance, stating, "As summers continue to get hotter, and the effects of climate change become more significant, it is important to ensure residents are able to stay cool."

A grand opening ceremony will be held, featuring music, refreshments, and activities for families. Community members, local leaders, and partners will join Mayor Sheehan to celebrate the new chapter for the community.
