In the town of Russia, a man named Mark Boyce was arrested following a shooting incident involving two dogs on Sunday (August 3). State Police responded to reports of gunfire on Norway Street and discovered that two dogs from a neighboring property had entered Boyce's land. Boyce, 43, claimed the dogs were threatening his goats. One dog was found dead at the scene, while the other was taken to an emergency veterinarian but later died from its injuries.
During the incident, Boyce allegedly pointed a rifle at several individuals who were trying to help the injured dogs. Fortunately, no people were injured. Boyce was charged with menacing in the second degree, a Class A misdemeanor. He was arraigned in the City of Little Falls Court and released on his own recognizance. Boyce is scheduled to appear in the Town of Russia Court on August 20 at 6:00 p.m.
According to the New York State Police, the investigation into the incident is ongoing. The community is urged to remain calm as authorities continue to gather information and address the situation.
