Cohoes Police Seek Suspect in 2025 Homicide

Cohoes police are investigating the first homicide of 2025 in the city. Officers responded to a call on Earl Lynn Court over the weekend and discovered the body of a 41-year-old woman. The suspect, 53-year-old Anthony Bechand, is currently at large and considered armed and dangerous.

According to the New York State Police, Bechand is described as a white male, approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing around 180 pounds, with hazel eyes and brown hair. He was last known to be traveling in a white 2024 Chevrolet Silverado, which was found on County Route 60 at the intersection of County Route 86 in the Town of Brighton, Franklin County.

Authorities have not released the name of the victim and are urging anyone with information on Bechand's whereabouts to contact the New York State Police at 518-897-2000. They advise the public not to approach him. The investigation is ongoing, and community assistance is crucial in locating the suspect.
