Authorities have arrested Avery Zulo, a 28-year-old resident of Schenectady in connection with multiple fires that occurred on State Street between Broadway and Veterans Park last Thursday (September 11). Zulo faces charges including two counts of fifth-degree arson and two counts of attempted fifth-degree arson.
The arrest was made by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) Capital District Arson Task Force, which includes members from the Schenectady fire and police departments and the Schenectady County District Attorney’s Office. According to NEWS10 ABC, no injuries were reported as a result of the fires.
The Daily Gazette reported that Zulo's arrest is part of ongoing efforts to address arson in the area. While Zulo has been charged, authorities have not disclosed whether he is currently in custody.
The investigation is ongoing, and officials have not yet released further details about the motive behind the fires or any additional suspects. As the legal process unfolds, more information may become available regarding the charges against Zulo and the circumstances surrounding the incidents.
