Three individuals have been arrested in connection with an animal abuse case in Whitehall. State Police received a tip in June about neglected animals on a property on State Route 40. Following an investigation, authorities executed a search warrant on August 30, discovering two dogs and one cat in poor condition. Further investigation on September 27 led to the removal of 28 additional animals, including eight dogs, 19 cats, and a Canadian goose, due to inadequate living conditions. The animals are now receiving proper care.

The suspects, Jessica Austin, 43, Christopher McKinney, 43, and Charles McKinney, 81, all from Granville, turned themselves in to the State Police on October 10. They face multiple counts of torturing or injuring animals and failing to provide sustenance, as per the Agriculture and Markets Law 353 A. Each suspect received an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Whitehall Town Court on October 27.

According to State Police, the dogs and cats were transferred to local veterinary offices, while the Canadian goose was taken to North Country Wild Care. This case highlights ongoing concerns about animal welfare and the importance of vigilance in reporting suspected abuse.
