Albany Man Arrested for Hammer Assault

An Albany man, Fares Saeed, aged 42, was arrested following an alleged assault involving a hammer on Sunday (October 19). According to the Albany Police Department, the incident occurred outside Miguel’s Deli and Grocery at the corner of South Ferry and South Pearl Streets. Saeed reportedly struck a 31-year-old man during a fight, causing an injury to the victim’s eye.

Police responded to a call about the altercation around 10:45 p.m. Upon their arrival, they found the victim with an eye injury. Officers arrested Saeed at the scene and charged him with second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

The victim received initial treatment at the scene before being transported to Albany Medical Center Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, as reported by NEWS10 ABC.
