Early Wednesday morning (October 22), a tractor trailer carrying livestock overturned near Northway exit 7 in Latham. Emergency crews responded quickly to the scene following a call at approximately 4:20 a.m. The accident occurred on Route 7, just before the on-ramp to the Northway, and was first spotted by CBS6 cameras around 4:40 a.m.
According to CBS6 Albany, one person was in the cab during the rollover but was not injured. By 6:30 a.m., state troopers were seen removing livestock from the trailer. At least two animals were led away, and another was carried. The type and number of animals involved have not been confirmed.
Wet roads from overnight rain may have contributed to the accident, though this has not been confirmed. Despite the incident, traffic continued to move freely around the crash site during the morning commute, although one lane of the exit to Route 9 was closed.
NEWS10 ABC reported that the cattle were being transferred to another trailer by 7:20 a.m. Emergency and Department of Transportation crews remained on the scene, and drivers were advised to exercise caution and move over for those working in the area.
