The Animal Protective Foundation in Glenville is urgently seeking public assistance to replace the roof of its shelter. The roof, which is 32 years old, has started leaking, threatening the facility's ability to house animals. If not addressed soon, the shelter may have to close some animal housing areas, reducing its capacity to care for cats and dogs.
The cost of the roof replacement is estimated to exceed $40,000. To help fund this crucial project, the foundation has set up an online donation link. The Animal Protective Foundation, located at 53 Maple Ave., has been a key supporter of animal welfare since 1931, providing shelter, medical care, and adoption services to approximately 5,000 animals annually.
The foundation’s mission is to ensure every companion animal in the community is cared for and has the chance to find a forever home. According to their website, they spend an average of $250 on medical care, shelter, and basic needs for each animal.
Community members can support the foundation by donating online or contacting them at (518) 374-3944 for more information. The shelter is open from Tuesday to Saturday, 12:00 PM to 4:30 PM.
