A fire early Tuesday (November 18) morning led to lane closures on Vly Road in Colonie. According to the Village of Colonie Fire Company Chief Jeff Kayser, the blaze began in the kitchen at the rear of the house and quickly spread throughout the structure. Fortunately, the residents evacuated the home before fire crews arrived on the scene.
Firefighters encountered a heavily involved structure fire upon arrival. They deployed water hose lines in the basement, first, and second floors to extinguish the flames. By 7 a.m., the fire was under control, but crews continued to check for hot spots to prevent any flare-ups. The house sustained significant damage, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The fire resulted in the closure of a portion of Vly Road and Central Avenue, causing traffic disruptions in the area. Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes until the roads are reopened.
