The Henry Johnson Charter School in Albany is exploring the purchase of two buildings on the former College of Saint Rose campus. According to Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy, the school has expressed interest in acquiring the Science Building on Madison Avenue and Albertus Hall on Western Avenue. The proposed purchase price exceeds $6.5 million, although no official offer has been made yet.

The acquisition is part of Albany County's broader redevelopment plans for the site, which aims to repurpose long-vacant properties and secure the campus's future. Albertus Hall, measuring approximately 85,000 square feet, and the Science Building, at around 30,000 square feet, both feature modern science labs, classrooms, lecture halls, and administrative offices. The charter school plans to relocate its operations to these buildings, which would bring new educational opportunities and increased foot traffic to the area.

This potential purchase is one of several strategic partnerships initiated since Albany County acquired the campus last year. These efforts are focused on ensuring the long-term viability of the site and strengthening the surrounding neighborhood.
