Residents of the Capital Region are gearing up for a significant winter storm expected to hit the area starting Tuesday morning (December 2). The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch, effective from 7 a.m. Tuesday until 1 a.m. Wednesday (December 3). According to the National Weather Service, heavy snow is possible, with some areas potentially receiving over seven inches of accumulation.

The storm is anticipated to bring widespread plowable snow, affecting travel conditions. News10 ABC reports that snow is expected to begin between 4 and 5 a.m. in the west-southwestern areas and will reach southern Vermont by 9 a.m. The snowfall intensity could reach rates of one to two inches per hour around noon, making travel challenging.

The storm's impact will vary across the region, with areas south and east of Albany possibly seeing up to eight inches of snow, while regions north and west can expect three to six inches. The snow is forecasted to taper off by Tuesday evening, allowing road conditions to improve by Wednesday morning.

As the storm approaches, residents are advised to monitor weather updates and prepare for slippery roads and reduced visibility. The National Weather Service recommends slowing down and using caution while driving. For the latest forecasts and alerts, visit weather.gov.
