Brendan Carl, a resident of Saratoga Springs has been sentenced to one to three years in prison for the death of his friend, Michael Collins. Carl, 26, pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide after shooting Collins, 27, with a BB gun in their shared apartment on Warren Street last April.

The incident occurred on April 6, when Carl shot Collins, who was later found unconscious and transported to Albany Medical Center. Collins succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Initially, Carl faced multiple charges, including second-degree manslaughter and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. However, he ultimately pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of criminally negligent homicide in October.

During the sentencing on Thursday (December 11), Collins' brother addressed the court, expressing his inability to forgive Carl for the pain caused to their family. The Saratoga County District Attorney's Office confirmed the sentence, which was delivered in Saratoga County Court.
