Albany Med Health System has introduced new visitation guidelines effective today (December 15) across its hospitals, including Albany Medical Center Hospital, Columbia Memorial Health, Glens Falls Hospital, and Saratoga Hospital. These changes aim to curb the spread of seasonal respiratory viruses and protect both patients and healthcare workers.

Under the new rules, children under 12 and anyone showing respiratory or flu-like symptoms are restricted from visiting inpatient areas. Additionally, only two visitors are allowed at a patient's bedside at any time. These measures are part of a broader effort to limit virus transmission within hospital settings.

The health system encourages all visitors to practice good hygiene by washing their hands before entering and after leaving a patient’s room. Hand sanitizers are widely available at hospital entrances and near patient rooms.

For more detailed information on the new guidelines and any exceptions, visitors are advised to check the Albany Med Health System's Visitation page.
